Our Lady of Guadalupe at Holy Cross

On December 12, 2010, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe fell on a Sunday. To commemorate the conjoining of the feast of the Patroness of the Americas and the Third Sunday of Advent, Holy Cross Church celebrated a bilingual liturgy called La Misa de las Americas. Flags from all of the American countries were hung in the church, and families in the Hispanic community, still wearing their traditional dress from the early morning celebrations, filled up the pews in great excitement with other families from the 10:30 Mass.

The Liturgy of the Word featured a traditional reenactment of the story of Our Lady and her meeting with Juan Diego at the Hill of Tepeyac. The young people's portrayals of the holy people they had known and celebrated since childhood were tender, loving and moving. Fortunately, quite a few candid photos were taken of the play from the back of the church, so we do have a record of it. What we don't have is Cindy Tinetti's beautiful narration of the story, but here are the photos with music and story added in a five-minute video. The song is an instrumental version of "La Guadalupana." With gratitude for Cindy and the young people who brought to life the lovely and powerful story of "Our Lady of Guadalupe."
